Pre-Emergent for grass that did not fully grow?
I tried to overseed my lawn (Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra) last October. Due to the low temps that crept up, and an abundant amount rainfall in the NorthEast, my new grass did not completely germinate.
Would it be detrimental to use a pre-emergent in the springtime? I did have a good amount of crabgrass last year. OR, should I allow the grass to fully germinate this spring, and use the POST-emergent early summertime?

If you intend to overdo this spring or think your existing seed is not fully germinated, you will need to use a post emergent.

Avoid a pre-emergent. It will prevent germination of new seed and will kill or stunt young grass. You also need to be mindful of your timing when using a post-emergent as many also have a waiting period for new grass.
