What's causing my lawn to grow so many mushrooms? How do I get rid of it?

Fungus, moisture, decaying material.

How do I get rid of it?
Mow them off and forget them.

Unless they are exceptionally persistent, that's all that's causing them, and unless you have allergies, that's all it takes to get rid of them. Most often we'll see them along the tree lines where it's shaded and there are dead branches, or sometimes where I have cut a tree down and the stump is still in the ground, but this past week we had a small clump of them right out in the middle of the yard where I know there hadn't been a tree or anything for at least 40 years. If you are overwhelmed with them, I would probably get a soil sample to see if a supplement might be in order, but otherwise they come and they go and don't harm anything. I don't know, being neither a doctor nor a biologist, but if you have allergies you may want to carefully cut them off rather than mowing to minimize the spores in the air.

Thank you! No, I don't have allergy to mushrooms. I just want to make sure it's not harming my lawn.

Mushrooms won't harm your lawn but they can be unsightly though I do like to see the fairy ring of them. You can spray with a fungicide if you wish.
