How to remove irrigation filter housing?

I need to replace my 3/4 inch irritrol irrigation valves and I'm having trouble with this filter. It seems to have right hand threads at both ends and so I cannot remove it. Do I need to destroy the valve (which is okay with me) or is there a less violent way to remove the filter housing without destroying the latter?Thank you very muchAttached Thumbnails

I've never come across sprinkler valve filters. I'm guessing that's something used for well supplied systems.

You wouldn't want to destroy the valve which would mean you'd need to cut the pipe below the filter or cut the filter in half before removing it. Regardless of what you do.... there will be some repair work to be done.
