Old Bahia grass seed

I have some Bahia grass seed that I purchased over a year ago and would like to know if it will still germinate if it is planted this coming June????

Yes but maybe just not at the same percentage of the bag as you would have gotten last year.

Two choices, toss it it in the trash, total loss, or spread it out and see what happens.
In all reality it should likely have been spread out months ago in you area.

Go ahead and spread it. You've got nothing to loose. Most seeds are viable for many years. Your storage conditions will affect how long it can be stored but most seeds are good for several years and still have decent germination rate.

My big question is why are you waiting to plant grass in June in Florida? That's way late and will probably have more affect on success than the year old seed. Planting that late you will be well into hot summer temperatures which can stress young seedlings. Ample watering can help but you really can't do anything about the blazing sun and high temperatures.

Guess you could spread 20+ seeds in a paper towel. Keep damp for 5-10 days and see what happens.
