Lawn weeds
In my lawn there is Japanese stilt grass growing. Weed-B-Gone will not kill it. I need something to kill it that will not kill the regular grass. There is a product sold at TSC called Compare N Save and it says it's a weed killer for lawns. It's made by Ragan and Massey Inc. and it states that it won't harm the lawn, guaranteed. However, stilt grass is not listed as one of the weeds it will kill. Yesterday I 'spoke' with someone at R and M and he told me the best thing to use is the Compare and Save weed killer for lawns. Has anyone ever used this product and if not can someone suggest something that will help me out? I live in SE Pa. near Philly.
Thanks,
Rich

I get what is called quack grass, all I do is use a grass and weed killer, put it in one of those spray bottles with a sharp stream, walk around and give them a little squirt.
It kills the quack grass and a bit of the surrounding grass but in 3-4 weeks the grass will fill in the spot!
Its grass, nothing I have ever seen will kill one type without killing the other!

Compare N Save is a brand name for a whole series of products. It's like saying Sam's Choice or Equate. Which of their products are you considering? The one I recall is just another brand of glyphosate (RoundUp) which will kill almost all turf grasses.
I've always controlled it with a preemergent herbicide applied very early because it germinates even earlier than crabgrass. I've used several different preemergent lawn herbicides and they have controlled it. The key though is getting it out early enough.

A lot of weeds which are grasses are tough to kill because anything that harms them likely also harms the grass you want to keep. In my neighborhood, we pour roundup into a cup and then use a small brush to 'paint' the leaves of the offending grass so as to kind of make a non-selective herbicide selective.
