Cool Too good of a lawn

My lawn is a mess so I did a dethatching job on it. Big time. Gathered 15 bags of dead thatch.

My brothers lawn is the opposite. Thick, lush, no weeds, spongy. He is cutting the grass about 2.5 to 3 inches long.. I offered him the use of my dethatcher but Iím thinking maybe he needs to aereate the lawn. Not sure the dethatcher could make it to the bottom of the grass. It looks beautiful but the grass is so dense itís spongy. I checked but thereís not much thatch under the grass. St. Augustine lawn. Whole yard is this way.
Suggestions?

99.9% of lawns do NOT need dethatching. If your brother's lawn is thick and lush do not dethatch. If the lawn looks great what improvement could you hope to achieve???

I will pass the word along to him that you say he should leave it alone. My lawn is looking so much better since I dethatched it. I’m finally getting plugs to grow.
