Leaf rake shape

What is the reason some leaf rakes are flat on the end with all the tines lined up and rakes with the tines in a curved shape? Seems like the curved end will not catch as many leaves.

the curved tines make the rake easier to use ....... or have I misunderstood your question?

The shape depends on what you're raking up: curved are often plastic and used primarily for leaves, straight is usually spring steel and used not only for leaves but also grass clippings, hedge trimmings, or de-thatching a lawn.

I'm talking this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Anvil-24...5400/307828056 vs this

I bought a curved type and, because it is plastic, there is very little flexibility in the tines. Doesn't catch many leaves. I'm taking it back and getting a flat type. If that doesn't satisfy me I will go with the metal cause they have more flexibility. Trouble with that is that metal rakes are expensive and have mostly cheap junk wooden handles unless you want to spend $30 for metal handle. Of coarse I'll spend $10 in gas returning them anyway.

I have one like this and use it to rake leaves all the time and occasionally grass. IMO it works well.
