Not sure if this is the right place to ask. I would like to know if it is possible to claim my fiance as a dependent. We are getting married in Aug. I currently support us both. I have a well paying FT job, along with a small consulting business and real estate investments. She is a FT college student and is finishing this year. She doesn't work. She is starting law school in the fall. So I will be supporting her then too, but we will be married so I know it won't be a problem. She has a 1099 from some work she did in Jan 04 for about 2k, and she has tuition expenses of like $8000-9000. We took out student loans for about 1/2 of that. So can I claim her? Will I be asking for trouble if I do? I just think it isn't fair that I don't get some sort of tax break for her. TIA
