Kitchen Light

Hello, I replaced my kitchen hanging light with a new one. I would like to put the old one in my garage, the light is the chain link hanging kind with a copper ground wire. I do not want to hardwire this in my garage, I would like to plug it in to a normal wall outlet. Can I rewire this type of light? I have seen the parts at the hardware store but with that copper ground wire I am not sure I can do this.

Thanks for any and all help

If your not interested in cosmetics you can get some 3 wire SJ cord and put a male 3 prong plug on it. If you are interested in the way it looks you should be able to find a white 3 wire something in 14 awg would be fine. Swag kits are made for converting a hanging ceiling fixture to a plug in unit.
Most of this material would be available in a hardware store
