Out Door Lighting / Bugs
I was wondering is there a certain type of light that does not attact bugs.
I have a medium size outdoor fluorescent light out there now. Last summer it was a nightmare. It lights up the deck area but it was impossible to enjoy sitting out there. Between the moths and the mosquitoes buzzing around the light, there was no room for me.

Yellow, regular incandescent light bulbs are made for that purpose, but I've never heard of yellow flourescent tubes.
You may have to change the fixture to solve the problem.
Good Luck!

Are you saying I need a yellow bulb, a incandescent bulb?
I think I have a fluorescent bulb, but it is white and it is a bulb not a tube. The only reason I think it is a fluorescent is because it takes a while to warm up and full power or brightness.
All I know is something has to change, I either have to rip the whole light out or use a different bulb. I have other lights in the yard and they don't attact bugs. The lights I have are those spot lights with the 2 inch tube bulb. But the thing with them is, they are to bright when you look up at them. All I want is a soft light that will light the whole deck area up.
thanks for your help, and I'll look into those yellow bulbs.

I know what you mean, I put a compact flourescent wall fixture up by the deck, and between it and the white house, I get every moth in a square mile hanging around my deck.
Here's what you do, get a much brighter flourescent, and put it on your neighbors house!
Actually, and part of the reason I came here, is that I'm going to try and use many more light sources spread out over a large area to accomplish the desired lighting, since right now the light comes from just one source, I get all the bugs in one place, so if I spread it out and keep the brightest source apart from the deck area, they will hopefully be drawn away.
