Yard Light

I would appreciate some help with our outdoor yard light which is on a lamp post.

For 3 years it worked fine, now the bulb will not turn on.

I made sure the bulb is not faulty and there are no circuit breakers tripped. I cleaned out some dead bugs which were in the socket. No help.

What should I try next?

Thanks

Had any rain or snow recently?

The most likely cause is a tripped GFCI. The GFCI might be on the post itself, but it's more likely in or on the house where the cable leaves the house. Try inside or outside the garage first, although these things can hide pretty well. It'll be a receptacle with a "T" and "R" (or "TEST" and "RESET" buttons). Press the "R". If the area is still damp, it might not reset until it dries out.

It works now. Thank you very much.

In our case, the box was attached to the floor joists in front of the house.

Thanks for getting back to us so promptly.
