New ceiling light - help

I am in the UK and have recently aquired a new ceiling light for my hall. Having disconnected the previous ceiling rose without noting the connections I am now stuck. There are seven wires coming out of the ceiling two red, three black and two bare earth. The new fitting has only three terminals. If someone can help me I would be very grateful.

There are two different wiring standards used in the U.K. Your description matches neither of them. You seem to be missing the neutral. In one U.K. wiring standard, white is used for neutral. In the other U.K. wiring standard, light blue is used for neutral. Any chance you have either a white or a light blue wire hiding in the back of that ceiling box somewhere? Or is there a chance this installation was done by an unknowledgeable person?
