Recess Lighting 5" or 6"

I'm going to put in recess lighting in my son's bedroom. It is 13'X13'. I went to the hardware store and found that there is a number of different light that can be bought. I was wondering if the 5" will work as good as the 6" to light up this area? Also, I was planning on using 6 recess lights, but the display at the store recommanded 9. This seemed like over kill to me, or I'm I making a mistake by not putting enough in?

Thanks Dave

The lightoutput really depends upon the type of trim & the wattage of the bulbs. Some trims have a polished finish to reflect light, others are flat white or flat black.Still others have a glass or plastic lens in which only regular bulbs can be used not floodbulbs. There will be a list of trims {in the packaging} that each different can will accept.I would go will the larger cans & a dimmer {also alot to choose from}.Good luck
