I want to switch the light in my infant's room from a rocker to a dimmer switch. When I removed the old switch this is what I found: A green wire--I know that this is the grounding wire and that I connect the ground wire from the new switch to the green wire. A red wire--This wire was connected to the upper backstab on the old switch. A grey wire--This was connected to the lower backstab on the old switch 2 black wires--These were connected to the left side of the switch. Each one was connected by a screw On the new switch, there are no backstabs. There are only 3 wires-- a ground wire and 2 black wires. When I connect one black wire with the top backstab wire and one of the black wires from the old switch and connect the lower backstab wire with the other black wire, the dimmer works, but the power outlets in that room and another in the next room don't work unless the dimmer switch is all the way up. Where did I go wrong here?

Hi, I am trying to wire a ceiling fan, such that the remote is used only for controlling the fan speed and not the fan light kit. The ceiling fan has 4 wires (R, B, W, G). The fan box has 4 wires (R, B, W, G) and so we have 2 wall switches. The remote receiver has 3 inputs (R, B,W) and 2 outputs (R, W). I would like to control the fan light kit using the wall switch and using the remote only for controlling the fan speed. Is it possible to wire it this way? -Thx
