Replacing Ceiling lights

Hello,
I'm in the process of changing ceiling fixtures. When I took down the old light, the only wires in the ceiling box were a white one and an orange one--not the white and black that my instructions tell me I should find. Do I attach the one wire to the white as instructed and attach the other to the orange, as if it were black, or will I run into problems? It appeared that the old fixture was attached as if the orange wire was a black.

Thanks.

Consider the orange wire to be black. This must be a conduit wire house?
