Recessed Light next to heating duct
#1

Hello,
We are remodling our basement. Our electrician installed 6" IC recessed lights. Recently the heating was installed. They installed a heating duct right next to a line of cans. This was wierd because the next rafter was completely empty. It makes for a very cramped area. The heat duct and light are touching and there is about a half inch of clerance between the light and rafter.
Is this ok/safe???

This is of course why the normal construction sequence is to put in the ducts before the electrical. But I think you're okay. If you are still in doubt, get the manufacturer's name and model number off the can and call the manufacturer (or submit a question via their web site).
