Under Cabinet lighting

What's the best kind of undercabinet lighting to use? All I'm looking for is a soft glow to illuminate the kitchen at night. L shaped kitchen, 2ft to stove then 5 ft to corner, another 5 ft to the sink and 2 more ft of cabinet on the other side of the sink. So 14 ft of under cabinet space that needs lighting.

Low voltage halogens

I used low voltage halogen "hockey pucks", 10 w each, spaced about 18" apart. My cabinets are white, so I bought 12" melamine-covered particle board shelving at HD, cut to fit into the recessed space under the cabinets and cut holes for the lights. I routed tracks on the top for the wires to run in and screwed them to the underside of the cabinets. The hard part was running the wires thru the walls to a dimmer switch that controls an outlet in the basement into which I plugged the 12v power supply. It came out very nice. The lights throw about an 18" circl of light on the counters.
