Question 4-3way switches for ceiling fan and light

I am replacing a light fixture with a ceiling fan / light combo. Currently the light was wired with 2, 3-way switches on opposite walls (source feed to switch to switch to light).

I am trying to wire 2 additional 3-way switches on opposite walls so I can control the fan and light separately. I was able to get fan to work but unable to get both to work. Any ideas?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You need to run additional cable between the two switch boxes, and between the second switch box and the ceiling. Did you do that? If not, what did you do? Many people would find this too much trouble, and either use the pull chains or use a remote control.
