Lightbulb Not sure which which is hot and which is neutral

I want to replace a light fixture in my kitchen, however, I can't see a distinction between the hot wire and neutral white wire.

Any suggestions?

On the fixture, or from the ceiling?

pg's advice will work if you have a grounded metal box. Unfortunately, many older homes do not. Visit your home center. Spend $15 on a voltage "tick" tester. It will easily tell the difference between the two wires, without the need for a ground. And it's kind of fun to use to boot.
