Wall Light Problem

I have recently replaced a wall light. The new light takes 2 candle 40W bulbs but keeps blowing the bulbs. I have checked the wiring and it seems to be fine. I have changed the light but it makes no difference.

Any idea what could be causing this problem? Another strange thing is that one original bulb has never blown.

Do the bulbs install base up, or base down?

Not sure if I follow you. The light is a picture lamp and the bulbs install from centre out (horizontally).

Okay, as far as I know, all of these bulbs can be installed horizontally. You may just have run into a bad batch of bulbs. Buy a different brand from a different store.

Thanks, John. I've actually used bulbs from 3 different suppliers now. I will try using 25W bulbs and see if that makes a difference.

Tried small 15W bulbs and they made no difference.
