Question Recessed Light Size for Hallway

I have a hallway that is roughly 3' X 20' with an 8' ceiling. I would light to run a series of recessed lights straight done the center of it for general lighting. I was planning on spacing the lights about 5' apart.

My question is, what diameter of light should I use? I am leaning towards 6" but just wanted to make sure is wasn't too big for the width of the hallway. Any suggestions?

Every five feet is going to light up your hallway like an operating room. What exactly do you do in your hallway that needs that much light?

It seemed like about 5 feet apart was fairly typical for what I have read on recessed lighting. I guess I need to take another look at the spacing. I take it you can get further apart in a hallway? I am just looking for a normal amount of light in the hallway.

Any suggestions on diameter or spacing?
