You were all so awesome on my last question, I thought I would try a new one. I am replacing an overhead, mounted ceiling fixture. It is original to my house, 1961. This [I]looks[/I] to be the configuration of wires. Haven't really undone them yet....too afraid I won't get them back. -2 black wires coming out of the ceiling connected in a wire nut. ONE of the wires seems to come [U]back out [/U] of the nut and goes [U]straight into the back of the one bulb socket [/U] in the fixture. It seems to attach with a little round ended connector. -3 white wires coming out of the ceiling connected in a wire nut. One of those again comes out of the nut and goes straight into the back of the bulb socket. The new fixture has two white wires and two black. How do I connect them all? Can I cut the wires at the back of the light socket and strip them and then connect with wire nut?

I'm putting recessed lighting in my living room and I have some questions about spacing, styles, lights, etc. I have created a .pdf file with a sketch of my living room – dimensions, layout, and furniture for reference. It doesn't look like I can attach it here, but I can e-mail it to anyone who can assist. As for my needs, I like a fair amount of light in the room b/c I like to read, etc. and I’m not much of a lamp user. Basically, I like bright ambient light. That said, I plan on putting the lights on dimmers. Anyhow, I’m trying to avoid a couple of things – light excessively washing against the wall and glare – whether it’s off the TV, off furniture/the wooden floors (which I wouldn’t expect to be a problem, but I nonetheless note as a possibility), or just shining in one’s eyes as they sit on the couch. I hope – if you are inclined to offer an opinion – that I have provided enough information for you.
