Question Rocker Switch Stuck

I was installing molding around a door, and near the door is a rocker switch for a hallway/stairway light. The walls are plaster, and with the hammering some plaster could be heard falling behind the wall. The light has a switch at the top and bottom of the stairs. Now the rocker switch is stuck. It will move part of the way to the opposite position, but it won't stay there. Could this be from the plaster falling, or would there be another reason?

It is unlikely to be related to the plaster, but it might be. It's easy to shut off the breaker and pull the switch out of the box to investigate. You'll need to do that regardless of what is wrong in order to fix it.
