Installing Ceiling Fan with suspended ceiling

I am about ready to install a suspended ceiling in my basement bedroom and I really would like to put a ceiling fan in. How do I go about doing this? I have purchased a steel ceiling fan support w/junction box to attach to the floor joists above but the junction box looks like it is made for sheetrocked ceilings? Is there some kind of extension kit for the junction box of the ceiling support (the suspended ceiling hanging 5+ inches below bottom edge of floor joists)? Or do you install the ceiling fan to the ceiling support and use the fan extension bar to make it hang below the suspended ceiling? Any suggestions out there? :mask:

Try to find one of the drop ceiling supports on this link.

Be sure that you have at least 7 foot of clearance from the floor.

But How?

I have purchased one of these supports from the 'Depot but will the junction box extend far enough down to make up for the drop in the suspended ceiling?

Depends on exactly what you support you bought and how far your ceiling is dropped. Let us know when you find out.
