Replacing florescent light fixture help!

I have a hideous florescent light fixture in my kitchen that I would like to replace with a regular ceiling mount kitchen fixture. Can anyone tell me how to remove the florescent fixture? Is there anything special that needs to be done once it is removed to prepare for the new regular 2 bulb fixture?

This should be fairly simple.
Turn off power to the circuit at the breaker. Don't rely on the light switch. It may not turn off all the power at the fixture.
Remove the existing fixture by only disconnecting the two wires + ground attached to it. Leave all other wires in the box alone even if they look wrong. You could have white connected toa black. That is OK.
Use the same wire to connect to your new fixture.
The thig that could be a problem is if there is no electrical box behind the flourescent fixture. If there isn't then you will need to install one.
