Need help replacing an old light switch

We have an old light switch in our hallway that had a spot for a lightbulb in it. We want to replace this old thing and put a more mordern switch without the light bulb thing. There are 4 different wires comming from the wall into the old witch and 1 that is not used. Does someone have an idea on witch cables to uses to change the switch.
Thanks!

If the old switch had a light in it then it probably had a neutral wire attached to it. That would be the white wire. Leave that one off.
There isn't another switch that controls the same was there? If there is then this is a three way switch and you need all three wires.
