extra light and a switch

hello, in my home i have an attic that we want to use for storage, but there is no light I was wondering what it took to install a light or 2, both with switches. There is wiring from other lights in the actual house on the floor of the attic covered in insulation, but i dont want to split that to the light, i want it seperate so i can turn the light on and off when i'm in the attic.
Thank you very much.

You basically need to drop down to one of the light switches or outlets to get power, furn that to a switch, then your lights, or you can tie into a light if it has a switch loop.

Don't try to tap power from any switch with a white wire connected to it. Furthermore, trying to tap power from a 3-way switch only works some of the time. Unswitched receptacles are usually good places to get power from.

Find a home wiring book with lots of colorful pictures. It should help a lot on a project such as this.
