Florescent light & GFIC
I've installed a florescent light on a switch that is get its power from a GFIC receptacle. When I turn on the light, the GFIC trips. Is there an incompatibility between florencent lights and GFIC circuits?

Maybe. To find out, temporarily replace the fluorescent fixture with a simple $3 naked-bulb incandescent fixture. If that trips the GFCI too, then you have a wiring mistake. You might just have an accidental contact between the neutral wire and grounding wire somewhere.
