dimmer switch question
Can you safely install a dimmer switch to a light switch that is wired to a pluag on the other side of the room. I have a torch lamp hooked up to the plug that is controlled by the light swich.

So if I absolutely had to plug a light into that plug it would be alright. The plug is behind my huge China cabinet. It would be impossible to get back to it to plug another device into it. So a light would be OK as long as nothing else gets plugged into it.

NO it is not alright just because it is behind a china cabinet. There is no exeception.
