remote for ceiling fan doesn't work and it's not the battery

It's up about 12 feet and the remote won't operate it, even with a new battery.
It's a Hampton Bay light and fan combination fixture, only a couple years old.

Help?

any chance did you check the wall switch for the ceiling fan ??

if so then you have to do this is try to use the pull chain to see if it responde if not,

turn off the breaker for this circuit then open the capony [ cover ] you will see the remote recever and check for any loose wire which it will happed from time to time will get loosen up if they are good and tight .

if that come out ok then this what i will do next is unhook the remote receiver and by pass the connection and turn on breaker and switch [ on the wall if have it ] if the fan or light do come on then the reciver is " damaged " most common curpit is power surge it will kill it

let us know how it come out

Merci, Marc

Elaine, also check the dip switch settings on the remote and the fan unit. It is a small bar with several small slide switches on it. Make sure they are in the same configuration.

Thanks, gentlemen,

OK, the next step is to haul a ladder upstairs.

I'll let you know the outcome.

I had a Hampton Bay with remote that wouldn't work right out of the box. Took it back and exchanged it for one that worked.
