Celing fan with pull chain won't turn off
The ceiling fan in my daughter's room has a pull chain to turn it on and off. I believe she must have pulled too hard and now the darn thing won't turn off. Two questions: 1) Is it dangerous to leave it on until someone can fix it? 2) Is this something we can fix ourselves or do we need a pro? Thanks!

You will have to remove the light fixture from the fan. OF course turn off the power to the fan at the breaker before you begin. Once the light fixture is off and disconnected from the white and blue wire, you will see the switch for the fan. Just trace the chain up to where it goes in the housing. Unscrew the chain fair lead and it will come off inside the housing. If it is installed with wire nuts, make note of where you take them off and what color the wires are, even put taped notes on them if you feel like it. If it is "hardwired", then you will have to cut the wires and later install them with wire nuts. Go to the big box, take your switch with you, and tell Bubba you want one that matches the one in your hand. Installation is the reverse.
