Exclamation Wiring For 3-way Lamp Socket W/top & Base Light

I have replaced a three way socket on an older Gone with the Wind type lamp (top bulb lights, base bulb lights, both light. The problem is the base light now stays on all the time. Do I need a special socket or are the wires just connected incorrectly?

lamp switch

Check your hookup. It's possible that the switch is defective and can be verified with an ohmmeter. From the center point of switch in first position, continuity to one side contact is made, in second position to the other contact, then to both contacts in the third position.
