Can you put this bulb in this fixture?
i have a mercury vapor fixture - 175 watt
can i use the same watt metal halide bulb in it?
also will the light function with no photosensor? i want to put it on a manual switch and not use the auto-sensor

Not sure of the age of the unit you have, but the newer ones can accept either bulb. Check the information plate on the transformer, or with the manufacturer to see if it will work on the halide lamp. You can bypass or disconnect the photoeye if you like to use a switch instead, but you will have to remember to turn it off every morning. I would use both. There is no need to have it on during the day, and the photocell will remember to turn it off for you in case you forget.
