Ceiling fan w/light kit
Good Morning,
I recently replaced a ceiling light with a ceiling fan w/light kit. The wires out of the ceiling is red, white, and green. The wires out of the fan are black, white, green, and blue (light kit). I connected the whites together, greens together, and the black and blue from the fan to the red from the ceiling.
However, when I turn on the wall switch it turns on the fan and light. There are two wall switches (I assume one works a receptable in the room). What do I need to do to have just the fan or lights on the fan to come on, not both.
This is new construction.
Thanks very much for your assistance!

You need to look in the ceiling again. There is probably a black wire there as well. That could be for the fan.
Give us a complete inventory of the wires in the ceiling box without changing anything.

As Joed said, there must be a black wire in the ceiling box as well. If so, connect the black from the ceiling to the black from the fan, and the red to the blue from the fan. This should separate the control of the fan and light at the switches.
