How many florescent fixtures?

I have just built my garage/workshop and now I need to install the lights. I have decided to go with T8 bulbs but now I need to know how many fixtures I will need. The garage is 32 x 34 without any windows.
Any help will be appreciated.

Bruce: Welcome to the forums! My shop is 24 x 24 without windows, and I have 6 each 4' double lamp fixtures off center on each side. I like light, and doing woodwork without proper lighting is the pits. If you require super lighting, you could get by with 4 capacitive discharge lamps (sort of like street lights). They just take a long time to warm up. Post back if we can help further. Y'all get any snow the other day? We got about 3 inches.

for the garage most common useally are 24X24 but your size is little more bigger so this what i will suggest that

use the 8 foot 4 lamp T-8 strip you need about 6 of them two row of three's this will give you plenty light

this is based on 10 foot ceiling hight but for higher ceiling please let me know i can adjust this number a bit

if you use the grarage alot like wood working or some serious hobby or something like that you may have other choice is the HID simaur to big box store light or streetlight typically can use 250 w MH[ get pulse start verison if you can ] for bigger garage can use high as 400 watts MH but most place is going with 4 or 6 lamp Flourscent type [ both T-8 and T-5 as well ] with reflector it will really kick alot of light per watts

for most average garage genrally 4 lamp strips will do most job pretty good with reasonable cost along the way

keep in your mind keep the lighting circuit separted from repectaile circuits

if need more question please do post it here

Merci , Marc

Thanks for the replies guys! Chandler, just a little sleet here. My wife and I also have a cabin on Burtn Mtn between Ellijay, Jasper and Dawsonville. I saw on the news that it got 5 inches of snow. How was it there? My son is planning on his wedding being held at Brasstown Resort? in Oct. I think that it is near Young Harris.

Marc, thanks for the advice. My ceiling is 9'. I think I'll go with the two rows of 3.

Thanks to both of you.
Bruce
