Ceiling Fan w/Remote - Power but no action

I recently replaced a light fixture with a ceiling fan that is operated by remote. Installation seemed simple as it was black to black - white to white and connect the ground.

Problem is that I have power all the way through the fixture as I have tested it at the light socket at the end of the circuit, but I cannot get the lights to turn on or the fan to run.

The remote comes with dipsticks or settings and I have confirmed that they match to the main unit but still nothing??????

It is a Hampton fixture that I picked up at Home Depot.

Any idea what I might be missing here?????

Have you tested for power at the fan/light itself? How many wires were present? Just one black and one white?
