problem finding a above the sink kitchen light.

I'm all done with my kitchen remodel. Everything is fine except that I got a flouresent light above the sink between two cabinetts. This light is ugly as all hell. I put in a nice hardwood valance to hide it but that didn't work. I can't find a nice looking light at the big box stores. The nice ones are for a bathroom vanity. I have a box in the wall and would like to mount a another light on the wall. I'm not sure about what would be proper. Would it be stupid to install a bathroom vanity light above the sink? I want the lights to aim down. ,,

Why not install a short track light with two or three heads? That way you can aim the lighting where you want it to go. Use halogen bulbs and you will get a bright light, and it won't be as ugly.

Why don't you shop at a lighting store. They have a much larger selection than the big box stores and have more knowledgeable people.

I agree with Bob, we are a small area in population (7500), and have 3 or 4 lighting stores, plus the orange big box, so go figure. They all do a whopping business in lighting with a good selection.

Who says its a bathroom vanity fixture? If it will look good there, just buy and install one.

Thanks for the great advice, I went ahead and installed a bathroom vanity light and it looks like a million bucks.

If anyone asks, tell them it is a custom made, special ordered lighting fixture, one of a kind. Adapt, improvise, overcome!
