Ceiling Fan Wiring
I have a kinda older home (34 years). I am replacing the old ceiling fan/light in the MBR. The light operates by wall switch. The fan operates by the pull string switch on the fan. The new fan has a remote control option.
I'm looking for confirmation that I am wiring this correctly. From the box in the ceiling there are two sets of wires. Set A black wire went to blue wire on old fan -- I assume this was the wall switch operating the light. Set B black wire went to black wire on the old fan -- I assume this provided hot power to fan. Set a and B white wires were twisted together with white wire from fan.
New fan configuration is blue wire on fan to blue wire on remote, black to black and white to white. Now, out of the remote, is a black and a white. I'm assuming remote black wire twisted together with both Set A and B black, and remote white wire to both Set A and B white wires.
Am I on target? This would mean that I would leave the light switch on the wall to the "on" position so I can control light with remote, and the fan would be "always on" as it was before but now controllable by remote instead of pull switch?

The wiring you had was not appropriate for the previous setup. Someone added a wire that they should not have.
Tell us the wiring at the switch (in complete detail).
Then tell us what you want to be switched )if anything) and what you want to be always hot.
We'll go from there.

I need to know the wiring, in complete detail.
I want to know what cables are present, what wires are in those cables, and how those wires are connected to anything.
Then I want to know what you want. Do you want the switch to do anything?
