Removing a chandelier

I wanted to remove a chandelier in my dining room and not replace it with anything. I wanted to simply use floor lamps instead. However, I am unsure what to do with the wires that are in the ceiling for the chandelier. I assume I can't just remove the chandelier and leave the wires hanging so what do I do?

Cap the two wires that connected to the light individually. Leave all other wires alone. Place a blank plate over the box. You can paint the plate to match the ceiling color if you want.

Note that you may create a code violation if you have no switched light or switched receptacle in the room.
