Loose light bulbs?

I'm wondering what would cause a light bulb to become loose on a regular basis. I'm talking about perhaps once a month having to screw it in tighter because it's flickering. We're in an apartment building that probably has older wiring.

I'm guessing it's just that the threads in the fixture have become malformed/widened over the years, thus not holding the bulb securely in place. Each time the bulb heats up and cools down it could work itself loose I suppose.

The fixture could probably use replacing if your landlord will do so. Otherwise try a CFL bulb which generates less heat.

The contact in the fixture could also be dirty.
