Question Wall Outlet Problem

Outlet working fine til a drop cord over heated and shorted out. Breaker trip. I reset breaker and outlet would not work, replaced outlet. Still does not work. Using tester on hot and neutral, get nothing. Use tester on bare ground wire to hot, lights up, also lights up, when use tester on neutral and bare ground. Anyone know what the problems is?

Yes, you have an open neutral.

In anticipation of your next question, I'll tell you what to do about it.

At this receptacle or one of the upstream receptacles a neutral wire has become disconnected. It is either at the last working location on the circuit or the first non-working location.

Open every receptacle or other switch box and check the wires. Move an back stabbed connections to the screw terminals and remake any and all wire nut connections. Eventually you will find the problem.
