Wiring HELP?

I am trying to install a new ceiling light fixture that has too many wires that I do not know where to connect. The fixture has 4 white wires 2 coming from the left side and 2 coming from the right side of the fixture. It also has 4 black wires 2 coming from the right and 2 coming from the left. The switch has 1 white and 1 black wire and the ceiling has 1 white and 1 black wire. How do I wire this fixture with the light switch controlling the light? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

You're missing some wires somewhere.

Tell us ALL the wires, including any that are connected to other things.

It's bet if you tell us cables and then the wires in those cables.

Wires present

I think 1 thing I might not have put in the previous post is that this is an older house so there is no ground wire or even cables. The only thing I can see coming out of the ceiling is 1 black and 1 white wire. Coming from the switch on the wall is 1 black and 1 white wire. Not sure if this helps at all. Thanks!

You are missing the other wires at the ceiling, but they are not important (unless you messed with them). You should not have touched those wires or the switch wires.

Connect all the wires that were connected to the old light to the new light. That is connect the ceiling white wire to the fixture white wires, and the ceiling black wire to the fixture white wires.

There are more wires. At either the switch or at the ceiling you have additional wires.

Tell me where they are and what they are and I can answer the question. Until I know the entire setup I cannot accurately answer the question. I can guess, but I won't do that because I could be wrong.

Sounds like knob and tube wiring. There may not be any more wires. Connect the switch to the two wire and the fixture to the two wires.
