Question Newbie ceiling fan question

Hi folks,
I'll apologize right up front for my ignorance... and thank you for your help!

I would like to install a ceiling fan in the bedrooms on our second floor. There is a finished 3rd floor.

The only other time we've done this we just replaced the light fixture with the fan unit, right up through the ceiling and braced it on the other side. Because we could.

Is it possible to replace a light fixture with a ceiling fan if you can't access the 'other side' of the ceiling to secure it (ie. without rippling up the flooring above it - which seems like a lot o' hassle for the sake of a fan...)? If so, HOW???!

Thanks!

You can remove the existing box and install one of these.
