Trouble installing ceiling fixture

I bought a new fixture with a ground wire connection (green/yellow). My old fixture had no such connection. Can i just take this wire off, or do i need to find a place to mount it. Also, what does type A light bulb mean, and how important is it i use this type of bulb if requested. Thanks, any help greatly appreciated.

Do not cut the ground off. Connect it to the box if it is metal or to the bare wrie if it is present. If no ground is present in the box then cap it and leave it in the box.
Type A bulb is a normal incandescent.

Is it okay to take the ground off, meaning can i unscrew the wire, i dont have to cut it off, can unscrew it from the base. Thanks for your help
