Making 2 Lights into 3 Lights
I am trying to take 2 lights operated from a single switch and install 3 lights operated from a single switch. The old configuration was from the switch to the first light:
white to white and
black to black/red.
From the last light to feed(?) was the same: white to white and black/red to black.
Now that I have 3 lights I copied the first light:
white to white and
black to black/red
and from the last light:
white to white and
black/red to black.
Question: how do I connect the wires from light 1 to light 2 and from light 2 to light 3? Do I connect black to black and red to red and white to white or should it be black/red to black/red joined and white to white?
I've tried both combinations and the lights are on with the switch off and when I turn the switch on then off the breaker kicks. Should the red be capped after the last light?
Thanks.

I would think that is an accurate depiction of the layout. The switch is on one end of the wall and had wires going to light #1(B/W), then that connected to light # 2 (B/W/R), then there were the wires out (B/W) to what I am assuming to be the power in. So if this is the case, any advice on wiring R/B between the lights? From the diagam - does the red go to the black wire on the light and the black wires connect to each other, but not the light fixtures?
