Hampton Bay Fan and Remote issue

Hello, (Newbee here) Can someone help me with a Hampton Bay fan and remote issue I have. My office did not have a prewire for a fan so I had a contractor from Home Depot install a Hampton Bay fan for me with a Hampton Bay remote. The problem I am having is the light will come on without anyone hitting the remote or the fan will change speeds. At night, the fan will turn off. I am sure that the family next door to me has the same remote and is affecting mine. I didn't think these remote have the same frequency though? Anyway, this is driving me nuts so I just want to remove the remote receiver but the contractors did not give me the manuals for either the fan or the remote so I have no idea where it is located at. Do I have to remove the fan or possibly just the light fixture? Any help would be great. Thanks, Dan

Dan, welcome to the forums! Don't panic. You are doing the same thing to your neighbors! Go up into the fan bell housing and find the remote receiver. Change the dip switch settings and remember the way you set it. For instance 0110, or 0010, etc. Take the back off and battery out of your remote control sending unit and duplicate the dip switch settings. That way you will have your own settings within reason. Let us know how it goes, and come on back.
