Smile bad switch in bedroom

I am having to ask my question in two parts mainly because the second part requires me to shut off the power to the bedroom so that I can pull the switch back out of the wall.
Here goes the first part: I live in a mobile home and the light switch in the MB is one of those that has the light in it so you can see it in the dark. The switch housing is all plastic and one day it just quit working. I pulled the cover off to check it and the switch just decintegrated into my hand. Since most of the switch just crumbled I didn't exactly get to see just how the wires were connected. Also, do I have to replace the switch with the exact same kind with the light in it or can I just use a regular light switch? Tomorrow during the day when I can see, I'll turn the power off and I'll pull the switch back out and check the wiring to see exactly how many wires there are and what colors they are then I will get back to you when I have all of this other information. Sure hope you can help me because I cannot afford an electrician to fix it for me.

Once you post about the number and colors of wires I think someone will be more able to give a better answer.
