Landscape lighting problem...

While planting some flowers I accidently cut a 1/2 in slice in my landscape lighting cable. I wrapped it with electrical tape and reburied the wire. Will this be a problem in the future. The wire was not cut through, just the rubber coating. How can i fix this without replacing the entire run?

3M IIRC, makes a brush on coating to repair wire insulation. You will probably need to get it from an electrical supply house.
