Set of recessed lighting flicker

Hi,

First post so please bare with me.

In my basement, we have 6 recessed lighting fixtures that started to flicker at 1 to 3 minute intervals. I noticed the flickering about a month after I replaced 2 of the bulbs with 65W, BR30 indoor flood bulbs. The first thing I did to resolve the issue was removed the bulbs I installed. That did not work. The next thing I did was replaced the dimmer switch but the lights are still flickering. The 6 lights are on a separate circuit in the circuit breaker. The other lights in the basement do not work fine. Could the circuit be failing? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "flicker at 1 to 3 minute intervals." Could you elaborate? How long on? Then how long off?

As an experiment, temporarily put in 40-watt or 25-watt bulbs and see if it behaves differently.

How big are the cans? 4"? 5"? 6"?

What kind of trim is on the cans? Eyeball? Baffle? Something else?

Is there insulation surrounding the cans?

Is there a typo in your statement, "The other lights in the basement do not work fine."?

What kind of bulbs were in these fixtures previously?
