Halogen Lamp - light goes off & on
We bought a nice halogen torch style lamp a few years ago (about $100). After the 1st bulb burned out, we have replaced it with several different makes of bulb. Every time, the light will stay on for about 3 minutes, then go off, and a minute later come back on. I checked the type bulb to use - Type T 300, and just replaced it with a GE Type T 300 bulb. Same thing happens.
Can we salvage this lamp or just trash it? (hate to have to buy another lamp for that room)
Any ideas, advice, etc. greatly appreciated!
Thankyou!

It is overheating and the thermal switch is kicking out. It is possible you have lady bug carcasses that have dropped down in there and have it packed up (we do, twice a year). Try taking the cover off and cleaning it out. If that doesn't work, you may have to replace the thermal switch, or go to a lower wattage bulb.
